You can ask DOF any legal question and you’ll get some very helpful guidance.
DOF has been built by lawyers to make AI tools available to everyone, everywhere. We aim to increase access to justice, reduce legal costs, answer simple legal questions efficiently and refer you to the right lawyer if you need to speak to a real lawyer.
We have partnered with AI firms in the US, Asia and Europe to build DOF. DOF leverages off their basic AI capabilities and adds legal knowledge specific to your jurisdiction. DOF also uses ‘playbooks’ developed by the lawyers who built it, which help DOF answer your legal questions more directly than a general AI tool can.
You can use DOF to answer general legal questions, comment on legal letters and draft suggested replies, comment on legal contracts and propose edits you could ask for before signing, draft agreements for you … and so much more.
Jurisdiction
Please appreciate that the law is different in each jurisdiction. It is important that you make sure DOF knows which jurisdiction you are in so that DOF can give you answers which are pertinent to your jurisdiction. DOF will ask you what jurisdiction you live in very early on in a session.
Find the Right Lawyer
At times, DOF may ask you if you would like a referral to a real lawyer. This will usually happen when DOF senses that you need proper legal advice, or if your query is too complicated for an AI response. DOF will sometimes want you to talk to a human who has studied for a law degree, because DOF knows its limits.
DOF can refer you to the right lawyer in your jurisdiction, if you want.
Also, you may want a legal letter sent out on your behalf by a lawyer, rather than sending it yourself. It is often more effective to communicate through a lawyer. In that case, DOF can refer you to a local lawyer.
All referrals are made on the basis that you individually and directly retain a local lawyer, but be assured that they know what DOF expects of them so you will be looked after as a valued friend of DOF’s. They operate on the basis that ‘any friend of DOF’s is a friend of mine’.
Free within Limits
It's free to Ask DOF anything. However, we have set a usage limit to prevent abuse. Your free allocation should be ample for any normal enquiry. If you hit our limit, you have been asking a lot of questions. Perhaps you need a real lawyer? If so, ask DOF to refer you to the right lawyer.
Register
To ask DOF a question, you first need to register so that we know who you are and which legal jurisdiction applies to you. Registration simply requires your name, country and email address.
